The annual FRPA Agency Summit is an ideal time for agency directors and assistant director level staff to connect with others of like positions throughout the state to learn about and discuss relevant topics in the park and recreation field.

Education sessions will include: Update on current ADA laws, regulation, design standards, and more; Public/Private Partnerships; the FRPA Career Map; tours of sites within Palm Beach Gardens, including a tour of the state-of-the-art Burns Road Community Center.

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) has a big impact on parks and recreation. Park design, maintenance, playgrounds, beaches, recreation programs, department policies, and risk management are all subject to ADA mandates. This six-part session will discuss operational issues and flavor each with the federal regulation, state and federal design standards, court decisions, settlement agreements, and success stories from Florida and elsewhere. Take home some ideas to make your department more accessible and engaging for people with disabilities in your community. This session will quench your thirst for ADA solutions!
