FRPA Career Map Training Series
Advance Your Path. Strengthen Your Impact. Shape Your Future.
Florida’s parks and recreation professionals now have a powerful tool to guide growth at every career stage: the FRPA Career Map, a comprehensive framework that outlines the progression of responsibilities and competencies across the profession. This training series is designed to help you understand and apply the Career Map to your own development, your team’s development, and your agency’s long‑term success.
The FRPA Career Map highlights how professionals move from basic awareness of core skills to conceptual understanding, applied practice, independent performance, and ultimately recognized mastery and leadership.  It covers 18 key competency areas, helping you identify where you are today, where you want to go, and which skills and experiences will help you get there.

About the Training
This series will introduce participants to the structure and purpose of the FRPA Career Map, including the six Scopes of Responsibility, which range from basic recognition of a skill to deep mastery and the ability to innovate and teach others.  Through guided discussions, practical examples, and hands‑on application, you’ll learn how to:

  • Understand the competency expectations at each level.
  • Assess your current position within the Scopes of Responsibility.
  • Use the Career Map to plan your next step in the profession.
  • Support and coach staff based on the competencies outlined.
  • Align professional development plans with your agency’s operational and leadership needs.
