8:30 a.m.-9:00 a.m.        Registration/Check In

9:00 a.m.—10:00 a.m.      Education Session
Education Session: Basic Structural Pruning and Invasive Species Identification
Omar J. Leon, City Arborist, City of Cape Coral
Training session will go over some basic tools and techniques associated with structural pruning of trees. 
We will also go over identification of common local invasive trees and proper removal.

10:15 a.m.– 12:15 p.m.    Skills Challenge Activities

Bobcat Basketball-This event involves the operation of a Bobcat. The objective is to get 3 basketballs (1 at a time) and put them in a garbage can. Judges will be looking for the most basketballs in the bucket along with the safe operation of· the Bobcat within the fastest time.
Blower Slalom-This event’s participant must use the air from the back pack blower to maneuver the play-ground ball in and out of the obstacle course. If the ball goes out of bounds, it must be put back in bounds and course path continued. Judges will be looking for the fastest time and the safe operation of the blower.
Mower Relay-This is a 2 member team event. Each individual will operate a mower thru a small obstacle course. Each competitor will operate a riding mower. Both scores are combined for the fastest combined time.
Field Lining– This is a 2 member team event in which the fastest time wins, with one member stringing and the other member lining. The member stringing starts at home plate, running with he string to first base. When given the okay to go, the other member lining, waits until the string is down and “mock” lines from home to first. Follow same for mock line to third. Once both member are at home, the time stops.
Home Run Contest-This event gives each participant 2 warm-up pitches and then 10 swings. The most Home Runs over the fence wins. In the event of a tie, the tied participants will get 5 additional swings. Bats will be provided.
Irrigation Challenge – Timed, 2 member event to assemble a 3 sprinkler head system with a valve.

12:15 p.m. -1:30 p.m.   Lunch and Awards
