Special Events and Multiuse Venues: Coordination and Cooperation with Internal and External Stakeholders
Our Julian B. Lane Park is a hotbed of activity year-round. Internally, the park hosts large events, sporting activities, private events at the River Center and more, but due to its’ close proximity to external entities such as a High School and Professional Women’s Soccer Team, our OSE staff has to be well organized and work closely with internal and external stakeholders in order to facilitate successful events. We will detail our process for accomplishing this and address some of the obstacles we face.

This session will explore the park’s history and its surrounding communities before diving into key topics such as public engagement, consultant selection, the design and construction process, and the challenges and successes encountered along the way. With six years of operation behind us, we’ll also reflect on lessons learned and the park’s ongoing impact.
